A-Z Challenge Theme Reveal

Poetry in some form or other, of course.  That goes without saying.  Incapable of thinking beyond poetry for a theme. This year it's going to be Light n Limerick-y.

The Limerick is a 5-line form with a rhyme scheme of aabba, based on the anapaestic meter. It is widely used for the naughty, downright dirty and/or satirical comment. Puns and wordplay feature often, practically mandatory.

I will however improvise on the form left, right and centre. Which means blithely ignore the rules on syllable counts, meters and feet, and other pestiferous stuff. Not because I don’t know them, (I do! I do! and that anapaest one drives me nuts!)  but because well, rules can be a pain sometimes. This seems important enough to write down here.  Just in case there are strict limericists reading and shaking their heads.

If it gets tough, be cool, don’t fuss,
bend it just enough, re-purpose.
Otherwise all we’ve got
is a poet tied in knots
not funny, just ridiculous.

That’s it, see you on April 1st,
with my lines duly rhymed and versed.
Of course, the bawdy count
will never amount
to brows knitted nor lips pursed.
