This one is for you, Anonymous

If you do not sign your name,
never mind what you’ve praised -
the blog, the poet or poem,
your comment gets erased.

All those garbled adverts for
the stuff that you want clicked
will stay hidden where they are
the rules are firm and strict.

So don’t bother commenting
if your name you won’t sign.
Jane and Anne, Joe and Justin,
Yusuf, Lakshman, Benyamin,
Juhi, Roohi, and Yasmin,
from human to feline,

all are welcome, read and write
whatever you wish to,
please keep the tone here polite
as civil people do.

But Gus who comes Anonymous
and the guy who is sly
won’t get their nefarious
scheming words to fly.

The delete button’s merciless
and the spam folder’s huge -
that’s where they all will languish
minus the subterfuge.

Spammers have been superbusy here lately. Some of them are quite hilarious actually. One cheeky comment asked if I'm having problems with spam this month?  Nope, not me! Thought they deserved a poem for the hard work. :)

  2. Nailed them, in style! I haven't been around for quite a while due to connectivity problems and then trying to catch up. Reading this poem, I realise just how much I've been missing the daily blog conversations. Keep writing the good stuff.

    1. Sorry to hear about the net problems. Hope they are sorted. Good thing about not being around - spam can't get you!

    1. Well, that's why the moderation is on - which is not my favourite thing to be honest. But what else can one do?

  4. excellent humorous poem, but so true. I'm lucky to not get much spam, but it's annoying out there in the world. Such a time waster.

    1. Yeah, a total pain really. But sometimes good for a laugh or two.

  5. A clever and fun riposte to people(?) who smear their way across too many posts.

    1. Don't know how many people there are in there - most of them bots no doubt. But a couple of them were quite funny so I assume those are actual humans.

  6. I seem to remember an old email I received that was a spam ad for some method of blocking spam ads. I wondered if such a trick really worked for them.

    1. I'm sure there must be ways to be spam free but I'll never master them because of my technocluelessness.

  7. Enjoyed your apt retort on a very contentious issue.

  8. The spammers are getting more clever - many of mine no longer post anonymously. So you have to read their missives. Yuck!
