Smileworthy

Festivals that seep into rooms
somehow by osmosis;
faraway strains of childhood tunes;
streamers peeping through mists;

a rainbow in a small oil slick,
preserved daisies in books;
flamingos clustered close and thick
somewhere behind the souqs.

The gentle turns of planets, years,
seamless the season’s bends,
the random points marked on a sphere
for beginnings and ends.

Wishing all here a fun, creative and positive 2017.  I got an email greeting which said 'may your happiness break all previous records' and I'm shamelessly plagiarising that. Record breaking levels of joy - that's my wish for you this year. Stay blissful, stay well.

  1. Hi Nila - Happy New Year to you ... and I love that phrase ... I just need life to be fairer and kinder than it was in 2017 ... but I'm positive and happy - that is a big start ... enjoy 2017 and all it brings - we can only do what we can do ... cheers Hilary

    1. Thanks for your wishes, Hilary. Wishing you a gentler, fairer 2017, actually we all could do with a gentler year. Staying positive is key, and that you are always- half the battle won already. Hope 2017 brings you calm and comfort.

  2. Let's hope we all have a happier 2017 than 2016 was to most of us.

    1. Yes, fingers crossed! Though personally 2016 was just weird - swung from one extreme to another. Filing a petition for an even ride this year.

  6. Yes indeed Nila. 'Streamers peeping through mists' is about right. We need to celebrate life in the midst of darkness. I wish for you a year that breaks all previous records. LOL! Love plagiarism. :-))

    1. As writers, dark is way more interesting isn't it? :) 2016 was great as writing fodder for sure! Thank you for your wishes and your presence here and elsewhere.

    1. Thanks Yolanda. Tbh, I would be okay with incremental levels too, as long as they are positive :)
