Rolling

What's the point of an angled stone
that will not learn to roll?
A certain restlessness is the
secret to a tranquil soul.
To gain a patch of moss is not
the only thing worthwhile.
To have stood naked, free and proud
after a thousand miles,
stripped of extraneous, angle, edge,
in its own orbit content
was far more than a bed of green
or springy could have meant.

Aaaand I've rolled right back. On a break from the break. Here for a few days before I take off again, this time westwards. Hope everything is going brilliantly with you all. Stay dazzling and tranquil. Like sunlight on water.

  1. Hi Nila - loved the angled stone and standing proud and aware of self and land around. Good to see you're resting briefly before the jump westerly again ... take care - cheers Hilary

  2. Love it. Dazzling and tranquil is such an unusual juxtaposition, and so very right.
Thank you for broadening my horizons.

    1. Dazzling and tranquil is what the sea is nearly every sunrise in all the places I've lived. Tranquility is in so many things and we seldom notice it around.
Hope you are having a great weekend!

  3. There is no sea near me, unfortunately because I miss the water. Lately watching the fireflies in my yard at dusk has brought me a feeling of tranquility.

    1. Both the tranquillity and dazzle quotients of fireflies are pretty high too!

I've lived landlocked too - for more years than by the sea..

  4. It's all about the journey. We don't learn from just sitting on that mossy bed.
    Safe travels!

    1. Thank you. Couldn't agree more...moss really hinders the journey in my experience.

  5. What a lovely piece - and perfect inspiration for me to find today. I'm just winding up my current year's journey around the sun, and contemplating all the places I'm "mossy" and all the places a bit of travel might expand. Wishing you another round of wonderful travel.

  7. Even rolling stones have to stop rolling at some point, whether or not they begin to roll again after that.
