A-Z Challenge 2020, Does This Look Like a Theme?

Hello, all ye who click on to here! Welcome to the A-Z Theme Reveal, where I am struggling to reveal what I am planning to pass off for a theme this year. Life has been a bit crazy, I’ve been, well, preoccupied watching news videos in a mindless loop…so. Really, this post-truth world does not suit my constitution, no pun intended.

Anyways, the upshot is, when the sign-up post suddenly flashed into view on the A-Z site, whaaaagh…no inkling of a theme! I signed up pronto (I mean, have you seen the colours on that badge?! who wouldn’t?!) But not one clue on the theme, a most panic-inducing situation.

I get these eureka moments most A-Zs – someone mentions something like W is for wooden and that sparks off a ‘oh-that-would-make-a-nifty-theme’ type thought. But then I promptly forget by the time the next A-Z comes around. So I’ve learnt to write them down somewhere, but then I forget where. However, desperation is the mother of due diligence –  therefore  I went looking for them and went through everything with a fine-toothed comb…nope, didn’t find anything. I know they are somewhere, but I have no access since I can’t remember the filename or where I put it.  No luck. Necessity would have to be the mother of invention instead. Again.

The deepest darkness is always before dawn. There was this random stack of books lying on my table. One of those titles?  – it would do. Accordingly, my theme this year is –

India in 26 Objects

Yup, it’s stolen shamelessly from A History of the World in 100 Objects by Neil MacGregor - but then imitation is the best form of flattery. It’s a thumping great read btw, in case you’re interested. Thoroughly recommended.

I’ve no idea how this will work out, right now I have only the most rudimentary ideas in my head, I can use a couple of ‘objects’ lying around my home, but where the rest are going to come from is a monumental question mark. I am way less prepared than I have been in the other years. I mean, most of my posts, the music – (of course there has to be music!) and the main theme item, are sorted out by sign-up time.

It looks like I’m going to be (gasp!) pantzing through most of the A-Z this year. Even last year, which was another super topsy-turvy one, I was better organised than this. But...enough. We each have what we have. And I think I have a theme here. I’m going to give it my best shot. Let's see if I survive. Onward! See you in April!

Fabulous, Nila! I had hoped to be back for my second go at A-Z this year... but life has rather conspired against me. I shall have to once again watch from the sidelines. YAM xx

  15. Hi Nilanjana. I'm trying my hand at History too. And well I am so jittery. I think I'm biting more than I can chew!
But having read you before I know you will be stupendous. I just know it. The theme sounds interesting and unique...Because I have no idea of the book! So I will be dropping by often. Good luck!

    1. Thank you. The gentleman is an erudite Oxford scholar and the collection he discusses is absolutely fabulous stuff from the Brit Museum, so that book is just wonderful to get one's teeth into...my series is going to be rather lowbrow and ordinary I'm afraid... :p

  26. I'm late to this reveal, Nila - apologies as it's mid-April now. First, your ‘oh-that-would-make-a-nifty-theme’ thoughts. I have those so last year I created an Excel file with the intention of using it to decide this year's theme. It worked - until I decided I was too stretched and had to do reposts from earlier challenges.

Second, I am so sorry to learn of your 'unfortunate family circumstances' so understand your decision not to continue posting. I feel powerless to do more than send my deepest blessing and thoughts, and I will be praying for you all.
