Recalibrate

Credit

One day, you know the world will restart

and all that’s slipped will itself restore

to a new order, a fresh, new heart.

The regimens of outdoor and indoor

will change again as they’ve in the past

and we’ll be free to take to the roads

without any temperatures asked

except maybe of the weather gods.

So be patient – wait for the needle

to straighten itself and to point true,

but steel aligns to the magnetic.

Some will drop but not all the people

hopefully among them me and you

ready to resume post pandemic.

In some places, sooner than others... The concern here is folk becoming complacent after that needle and being too much hurried for a return to what was, rather than dealing with what is and preparing for what will be... YAM xx

    1. Ya, folks are exhausted with restrictions - so they will tend to lower their guards too early...post pandemic will be different normal than pre pandemic.

  3. I hope so. I really hope so.
Sadly I think that sometimes we are not ready for the needle to point to true anything...

  4. I will remain cautious though I will pass on the needle for as long as possible. Besides there are many who need it far worse than I do.

  5. it's easy to get overeager on some days. I think 2021 is a year of fits and false starts, but it will definitely be a "new" version of life as we once knew it in some many ways. Good poem.

    1. In some ways 2021 will be even harder than 2020 as we reset to the new normal. Less adrenalin more reflection and course correction..

  6. Hi Nila - so pleased I've had the needle - better to be safe than sorry ... and ready for the world when we can return. But I'll stay safe as long as possible ... life will return - you're right there ... all the best - Hilary
